Episode 2: Maria Bamford::Unwanted Thoughts Syndrome

Hi everyone who has access to the internet!

Welcome to the second installment of

Sit Down, Plug In: Stand Up

(see what i did there? eh? eh??)

That's the name of the show. This week's wonderful, beautiful, eye-contact evasive comedienne is:
Maria Bamford.

Let's see.
You may recognize her(phy
sically or sonically) from:

  • Lucky Numbers
  • Stuart Little 2(the better one pfft)
  • Catdog
  • Hey!Arnold
  • The Comedians of Comedy
(which if you haven't seen, SHAME. It's totally algebraic.)
  • And so many other things!

Ahem. You'll notice that the previous list is filled to the brim with links, a skill i just discover (Hey, 21st century people, I'm new to blogging, ok?) Wonderful, wonderful LINKS, so I can let the internet talk for
me. It's like an internet trea
sure hunt! CLICK TO EXPLORE.
Or,
whatevs.

SO
. Maria Bamford

Is awesome. Her style is, as I mentioned before,
evasive. Yet direct at the same time. Her voice inflection and variation, nervous stance and fearless dive into all things insecure and not quite wanted(which she coins as Unwanted Thought Syndrome) make her a hero. She works both as a comedian, voice actress, and live action actress. And she grew up in Deluth, Minn. Which is nice.
I've combined both one of her recorded sets followed by a mishmash of clips I purloined from the internet
.
Enjoy!

Next Week: Tig Notaro
